Meepok friends,
This makes my blood boil.
Malaysian style corruption has seeped into the Singaporean system !!
I used to laugh when my Malaysian dorm mates told me they had to pay RM1,000 to guarantee that they pass their driving tests in Lian3 bang1.
No need to even start the engine.
Just sit in the car, pay up and wait 10 minutes.
And hey presto, your driving license is ready for collection.
That’s Malaysia, I thought.
Will never happen in Singapore.
I can’t be more wrong …. read on.
My friend, let’s call him Hero, took 2 driving tests recently at a Singapore test centre.
Both times he failed.
Some may think Hero is a cock-up driver.
But Hero has at least 15 years of driving experience.
Excellent driver but got his license suspended a few years back for err…. hero driving.
See 3 to 4 images still ngeh ngeh lai.
Anyway, each time he drove up to the driving centre at the end of his test, he was asked to pay a bride to ensure he passed.
At the 1st test, the tester asked for $3,000.
At the 2nd, a different tester asked for $1,500.
On both occasions, Hero refused to pay.
Not that he can’t afford it….. it is against his principles.
His guess is that the 3rd tester will be asking him for $750….. see the pattern here?
For the drivers out there, you’d notice that there are a lot of cock-up drivers on the roads nowadays.
Also a lot of liu3 lian3 kia4 (young punks) buang-ing their cars and killing others in the process.
I wonder if these guys paid bribes to their testers.
If so, our system has allowed incompetent drivers on the roads to endanger us.
Worse still, palms were greased and pockets of those who are supposed to uphold the law were lined.
My friends, spread this word and stop the rot.
It stinks….. PUI!!
Meepok
I wonder where do they exchange that “under table” conversation, considering the “examination room” has a mic attached to it to monitor the conversation.
My tester refused to talk to me on the way to the room… Don’t even wanna give me chance into bribery. >.< Haha
if it is true, he must report them.
If corruption is rampant, it is only because people let it happen. Write to the newspaper.
Ping – Maybe your tester thought you are the incorruptible type. My fried Hero looks like he is
RN – I’ve asked Hero to carry a digital voice recorder during his next test. He doesn’t want to cos’ it is long and sticks out of his front pocket. Worse still, the tester may get the wrong impression about Hero’s sexual preferences seeing the bulge. I write regularly to the ST Forum. This type of article will never make it. So I’m using the blog forum to spread the word.
Enginer tester – Sorry … I’m IT almost illiterate. Your site is a blog site that links to other sites?
haha if got this kind of lobang i no need take driving lessons already…. if $1k can get licence, can save some money and lots of time…. gee…
lately got a lot of fatal crashes by young men in fast cars… wah highly suspicious
HiaoA – Spread the word. Stem a social degradation.
Hi Meepok, I took my driving Test 6 times 6 years ago.. never once the tester offered me a bribe.. However, due to the fact that it was stringent and I failed so many times, I tend to be more careful on the roads as my license came @ a price
Graceie, I’m proud of you for persevering to get your license.
I was lucky I passed my driving test 1st time almost 20 years ago.
No bribes involed
